Broomfield, CO
After Boise, I traveled down through Utah enroute to Colorado. I stopped at the Great Salt Lake, and uh, yeah, it was a great big lake. Big & stinky and very hot. I had never seen it before, and now I have, so.. cool. To be fair, I got there mid afternoon and it was about 105 outside. Its probably much cooler when its much cooler. I did see some Bison.

From there, I drove to Colorado Springs, where I got to catch up with some really good friends. I got in a fun pickleball morning and then lunch at Lebowski’s Tap Room. This place has great food, lots of beer, some really cool license plate decor and of course, The Dude. They also have a really good Kahlua. I’m not a Kahlua person, but wow! This stuff is good.
Seeing Garden of the Gods and the mountains and having such a warm welcome from all my friends made me a little teary. I know, it always seems to happen when I get back to Colorado. I think the universe is trying to tell me something. And yes, I realize the post title is Broomfield, but the picture is Colorado Springs. Whatever.
After a too short stay in “The Springs”, I headed back up to Broomfield, just northwest of Denver. My sit there was in a really cute house with a park just off the backyard, and a little stream running through the area. Everything was green, and I was lucky to get a nice rain. Ahhhh, the smell of fresh rain in the mountains!
I got in some time with my kids on this trip. We went to The Golden Mill in Golden, CO. This place was awesome. Its one of those places where you get to ‘pour your own’ from a gigantic wall of taps. They also had a few different food options, a live band, and a fun view of the Clear Creek (how many rivers are named that? ) complete with tubers floating down. If I have known that was an option, we would have been floating. Kirk borrowed a really cool shirt from some guy there.

My new (to me) car is just about to reach 100,000 miles. Miles add up quick when crisscrossing the country. And money flies by maintaining my ‘mobile home’. Actually, its more like a mobile closet. Also on the list of chores was the dentist, just dumb things you have to figure out and schedule when you don’t have a home.
We all went to Top Golf one night. We all suck at golf, I love that place. We had some really good sunset views. There were some wildfires in the mountains, enhancing the sunset colors.

Right behind my house was a running, walking, biking, scootering, roller blading, dog walking path. I think I saw the entire neighborhood walk by at some point, and after 7pm, it’s a non-stop dog parade. It’s really fun to sit and watch, but not so fun to try to run on it, dodging people and pets and strollers. Not that *I* would know, but people who came out to visit and run and get free dinner would know!
It was a short trip, but so good to be back in CO, and visit my kids & friends!

Looks like the stop in CO was a great one and ya got to see the Kids as well. So glad your
crossing lots of cool things off your bucket list like seeing Salt Lake.
I am sure it was nice to be back in your old neighborhood and see old friends.
Safe travels onto to PHX and then San Diego !!!
Next time you go to the salt lake check out antelope Island. It seems magical somehow. And hopefully on a day that’s cooler so the lake is not so stinky.
Not sure it counts, but I’m pretty sure you’ve seen the Great Salt Lake before, though maybe only through the camper window as we drove past it[*], that time when were were kids and went with Mom and Dad to Portland to deliver a truck engine to Uncle Mike. (Meanwhile, our siblings stayed in Albq with Aunt Margaret.) It was on that trip that you (and I) first saw the ocean.
[*]it’s possible that we actually stopped and put our toes in the salty water, but it was a long time ago, and I don’t remember.
I don’t remember Salt Lake, but I remember that trip and I remember the ocean. It was cold, and the waves knocked me over and I got all wet and cried. And mom & Sharon were laughing… rude!
