Charleston

Back to Charleston to meet up with yet more family! This family included the the short cute types that you get to give back to mom and dad! We started with a river taxi ride, and ended up downtown for a cold beer. Its hot & muggy, but a cool spot. We spent a day at Folly Beach, cute little beach town. We also visited Shem’s creek & the Mount Pleasant pier, under the very cool bridge.

I dont have a ton of pictures of Charleston, so I’ll just give you a photo montage to oooh and awww at.

A quick drive through Isle of Palms and found these places! (Sorry about the car door in my professional photographs). This is Casa Margarita, Casa Flamingo, and Casa Banana.

I was pretty much vacationed out at this point, so I took a day off, locked myself in my hotel room and was actually happy to get some work done! Then I headed up to Raleigh. Remember those really cool hosts at Myrtle Beach? They live in Raleigh so I was able to stay there the night before my next house sit.

Bu-cee’s Side Note: I’d passed several Bu-cee’s in my travels and wanted to stop and check it out, because I’ve heard so much about it, but the timing was never good. I finally stopped on my way up to Raleigh. I have 3 words. OMFG !!!! It was a Friday afternoon, so maybe that had something to do with it, but it was PACKED. I did get a gas pump pretty easily, there are 120 of them there. When I walked in, the line to the bathroom was out the door. It did move pretty quickly as there are a shitload (hee hee) of stalls. And the stalls are like little rooms, floor to ceiling. I could have stayed in there and worked for a few hours. When I got out of the bathroom the chaos hit me full on. It was insane. Wall to wall people. I did do my best to walk from one side of the store to the other, but when I got to the far end (away from my car) where the Bu-cee’s swimsuits were, I just couldn’t face going back through the crowd. I’ve been to markets in Kathmandu and Mexico and I’ve never seen anything like this! I opted to walk around the back by the garbage bins instead of trying to get back through the store to my car. I know some of you are upset right now because you love Bu-cee’s. I would give it another chance, maybe on a Tuesday at 6am ?? WOW !!!!

Good God Jim!

  1. I’m so sorry that your experience at Bu-cees wasn’t as enjoyable as it should have been. Maybe you should stick to Stuckey’s!

  2. Totally understand having to take a break. This has been so fun to follow your travels but you have covered lots of territory.
