Framingham, MA

My next housesit was in Framingham, just outside of Boston. I’ve been to Boston many times over the years, so I didn’t even go into town this trip, just hung out with the kitties and my family, which includes some of my favorite little people.

My hosts had a beautiful house with a vegetable garden putting out tons of green beans & squash! Score! I had to recruit help with the picking, and I then I had to ‘flash freeze’ to get them stored for winter. See, I coulda been a frontier woman! (HA!)

I spent most of my time working and playing with the fam. That included a local family fun day where we got to drive the police van, swimming, a football party, pumpkin beer, pizza and green bean picking! It was an awesome visit !!! Well, except for the stupid football part.

The Cliff Walk, Newport RI

I had a friend from Colorado Springs who happened to be vacationing at Cape Cod, so we met down in Newport for a day to do the “Cliff Walks”. I had heard this was a cool thing to do, and was expecting a nice walk in the park, with views of big houses. It was this, but it was also much much more. It did start off on a sidewalk, with beautiful views of the ocean, and views looking back at Newport, but there were ominous signs from the start …

One of the mansions, Ochre Court, was apparently donated to the “Sisters of Mercy”, and is now part of Salve Regina University. I wonder what they teach there ??? I think it looks like the Adams family house. I mean, right ??!!!

Another fun fact: A ‘True Lies’ movie scene was filmed there. Here is Arnold Schwarzenegger blowing it up!

There were several mansions along the walk, and some of these offered tours, but as we got further along, the path got a little more treacherous. Some parts still had sidewalks, other parts had rocks you had to navigate around. We were there at high tide, so some of the rocks were wet, and a few times we got hit with ocean water as it slammed up again the rocks. There were also some cool tunnels and water obstacles. It was way fun!

I stumbled onto this site which gives a much more detailed, and probably more accurate review of the walk if you’re interested: https://anaadventure.org/2022/12/24/cliff-walk/

After we reached safety, there was a very nice white sand beach and a free shuttle back to where we started. My friend navigated us to an awesome brewery/distillery in Newport with nice views of the bay, and serving Wally’s Wieners! A perfect ending to a great day!

I loved my time in Boston. It was great seeing my family, and just hanging out. I felt very comfortable in my housesit house. From there, I drove down to Virginia, which was a much different experience …. cue the suspenseful music …

Good God Jim!
