Portland, OR
I took some time to drive up from San Diego to Portland, so I make a few stops along the way.

First stop was in Clear Lake, CA. It was a beautiful spot, but apparently I was on the ‘bad side’ of the lake. I found a very cute, inexpensive motel, right across the street from a park, that was right on the lake. As I was enjoying the view and looking for the right spot to get a picture, I noticed some nefarious behavior going on with a guy and a bag, and a bunch of littler bags … I didn’t stick around to find out what he was selling. I got a crappy picture and left. I would love to go back to Clear Lake and check out the other side of the lake. It was beautiful, and clear.
After that fun adventure, I drove towards the coast. I drove past Mendocino Lake, then up the coast through the Redwoods National/State park (I guess its both). It was beautiful and freezing cold!! I tried to get some cool pics of Kirk, but you know.. you just cant capture that in a picture. Those trees are huge, and amazing.

Driving up the Oregon coast was beautiful. There were turnouts all along the way for various beaches and rock lookouts. I only stopped at a few, its was hazy and cold. After the meth motel the night before, I upgraded in Gold Beach, OR, and stayed in a great hotel with a beautiful view of the Rogue River Bridge. The only thing that would have made is more perfect was if it had been above freezing. Ok, I think it was 55 degrees, but geeze, its freaking July! I know, Mark Twain in San Francisco!
The next day, I headed up to Portland for my last night of no responsibility before I started my sit. To be fair, the sit was pretty easy. Two kitty kats who are pretty shy. They came out to let me pet them and then retired back to their beds. On the last day, of course, they wanted to play and hang out with me. I spent most of my time in Portland getting caught up on work, caught up on rest, and recharging my social battery. I didn’t have much time to see the area, maybe on another trip.
I did, however, get to see my nephew and his family who live about 45 min outside of Portland. They’ve fixed up/remodeled the house they bought and its beautiful. They are so creative with the the design and decor. I could post pictures of their beautiful children (I got to play Pretty Pretty Princess with them), or of the view they have, or of all the work they’ve done, but instead, I’m posting 2 fun parts of the house that I loved. The cats’ room, (yes, they have their own room), complete with motivational sayings, and the laundry room. There is a ‘007’ thing going on with the laundry room, but if I tell you, I’ll have to kill you.

Onward from Portland. Not much sightseeing, but a much needed rest & rechange.
I am embarrassed to admit that the only picture I have of Portland is of the GIANT tomato plant in the back yard! Sorry Portland, I didn’t do you justice.
